2009-2010 Clubs
All clubs require parent permission slips PRIOR to attending. Students should see the respective teacher-advisor to obtain the permission slip. Please note that most clubs have a specific timeframe for signing up at the beginning of the school year. Late registrants will be accommodated if there are enough student spaces available and made at the discretion of the advisor.
After-School Sports
Advisor: Mr. Borusovic
Students will participate in a safe, fun, educational enviornment where they can expand their knowledge of sports and other
active games.
After School Sports meet on the following days of the week for each grade level:
- 4th grade - October 13 & 15, November 3, December 1 & 3, January 5, 7, 26, 28, February 16 & 18
- 5th grade - October 20 & 22, Novmeber 10 & 12, December 8 & 10, January 12 & 14, February 2, 4, 23, & 25
- 6th grade - October 27 & 29, November 17 & 19, December 15 & 17, January 19 & 21, February 9 & 11
Band
Advisor: Mr. Lawrence
Bands meet on the following days:
- Panther Band - Wednesday morning
- Blue & White Band - Tuesday & Thursday mornings
All morning bands meet at 8 AM in the Gym.
Brass Castle Book Club
Advisor: Mrs. Casserly

The book club is open to sixth graders who love to read. We do not always read ARP books from which you can earn points.
Basically, it is a monthly book chat based on a book selected by the group. We meet approximately 7-8 times a year after school.
Environmental Club
Advisor: Mrs. Meyerhofer
The goal of this exciting club is to promote awareness of the environment and conservation efforts within our school community and state.
Students will participate in environmental projects and various lab activities on current environmental issues.
This club will be held on Tuesdays from October 6th through June 1st.
Garden Club
Advisor: Mrs. Balzer

Students will plant bulbs and annuals in school approved flower beds. Students will learn the names of trees, scrubs and flowers
that surround our school. Members will learn about the characteristics of weeds, root systems and growth habitats of plants.
The students will maintain these plantings during fall and spring.
The club, through weather dependent, will meet on Tuesdays in September, October, November, April, May & June.
Homework Club - Brass Castle
Advisors: Mrs. Watters and Mrs. Gigantino
The objective of the Homework Club is to assist students with completing their homework.
This club meets each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30.
Please be advised that this is not to be used as a babysitting service.
Homework Club - Port Colden
Advisors: Ms. Lisk and Mrs. Rohmann
The objective of the Homework Club is to assist students with completing their homework.
This club meets each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:35 - 4:05.
International Club
Advisor: Ms. Mahon
Students will develop a deeper understanding of the world and the different cultures that make up our world. Students will research
a country amd create a PowerPoint presentation about their country. The club will culminate with an International Fair.
International Club will meet Wednesdays beginning October 6th and continue through June.
Photography Club
Advisor: Mrs. Sigman

The goals of this club include showcasing our community through digital media. Students will be exposed to basic digital camera vocabulary and functions.
Students will be assigned to different school and community projects.
The club will meet on Monday mornings at 8 AM in the library.
Red Cross Babysitter's Training
Advisor: Mrs. Casserly
This club meets six times in the spring to prepare students (age 11 and older) to babysit for children and infants.
Safety Patrol
Advisor: Mrs. Casserly
This club meets throughout the year on a daily basis to provide student supervision in the hallways and on the buses. Patrol and safeties are reassigned every six weeks.
Scrabble Club
Advisors: Mrs. Pellito
Students will have the opportunity to develop vocabulary, spelling and spatial skills while playing Scrabble. The students will learn tips to improve play and participation in a regional tournament is a definite possibility.
The club will meet on Wednesdays beginning October 7th through May.
Sign Language Club
Advisors: Mrs. Watters
Students will learn to communicate using the basics of American Sign Language (ASL). Instruction will begin with the ASL alphabet and continue to combine letters into words, songs and a variety of activities.
The club will end with a Sign Language Culminating Activity for students and their parents.
The club will meet on Thursdays beginning October 8th and continue through June.
Video Production Club
Advisors: Ms. Pomeroy and Mr. Flumerfelt

Students will have the opportunity to participate in all phases of video production. They will write a news script, research news stories, practice public speaking and hone
their broadcasting skills. The club will meet on Thursdays beginning November 5th and continue through June.
Volleyball Club
Advisor: Mrs. Drevitch
Students will have the opportunity to learn a variety of volleyball drills and participate in challenging games.
The club will meet at the Meadow Breeze volleyball outdoor court on Fridays beginning September 11th and ending October 23rd.
Walking/Jogging Club
Advisor: Mr. Borusovic
Students will have the opportunity to exercise while walking and/or jogging in a safe and comfortable educational environment.
In addition, students will learn how to improve their cardiovascular health and how to create health/social goals.
The club will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning March 2nd through June.
