"Behavior / Listening Light"

Dear Parents:

In order to help your child be more responsible for his/her behavior and improve his/her listening skills we will be using a "Behavior / Listening Light" in our classes starting the first week in October. We discuss the classroom rules that we feel are important in our classrooms. The rules are as follows:

  • Stay in your seat
  • Raise your hand; don't call out
  • Use inside voices
  • Be a good listener
  • Be kind to everyone
The "Behavior / Listening Light" is designed like a traffic light. It is a visual reminder to your child to follow the class rules. All children start out on the green light. If your child has difficulty following the rules the procedure we will use is as follows:

  • Name on the board as a warning
  • Movement of name from green light to yellow light
  • Movement of name from yellow light to red light
  • Red Light - Child then receives a five minute time out and a note sent home to be signed by a parent
In addition, there are positive rewards given for those students who follow the rules. Any follow through and support that you can give to this program will be of benefit to your child and appreciated.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Cydell Palavido
